Kristy Watson - 06/16/2008 I used my new Burley Nomad trailer today for the first time. I have an online business (Ground Control Horseshoes), and I am using the trailer to bring my packages to the post office to save on gas. I hauled 8 packages to the post office today. The weight of all the boxes was about 50 pounds. The divider in the middle was nice to keep the packages from shifting around. The trailer traveled behind me, slightly to the left of my bike. I rode it down my gravel driveway hill and up a very steep hill and it towed just fine. I was very pleased with how much it could carry. They say to be careful around corners, but I found it to do fine at a normal speed for a curve. It was quiet as a mouse and I had to keep looking back to see if it was there. I would definitely recommend this trailer for carrying packages. I'm looking forward to putting this trailer to work for a long time. It's going to pay for itself in just a few weeks with the gas money that I will be saving. |
christopher newbern - 06/13/2008 Got my Burley in today. Put it together (in minutes), while grilling some filets on my new commercial grade grill. I bought the trailer and the grill for me for father's day. I love my kid's dad! The trailer feels great on the bike, I carried the garbage to the garbage cage, which is about 200 yards from our house. The garbage can was full of water melon rines and corn husks (tis the season here in South GA), and I could hardly feel it behind me. Had a BOB before and sold it on Ebay. Took a 150 miler around South Central GA. I did not like it, poor tracking and constantly jerking me from side to side. That dog want hunt on the road with tractor trailer gusts sucking you over. I am ready to migrate some more wiht this thing! Thanks for prompt delivery. |
Michal Cajsel - 04/20/2008 A car-hater in a totally car-dependent country (Iceland), I purchased Burley Nomad as a way to show a middle finger to the Big Oil and defend my way of life. While the only annoyances, related to a confusing manual, happened during the assembly, during the 4 months of using the trailer I've only experienced joy and pride. Aside of the regular 40-50kg of groceries I buy every 2 weeks I also hauled a complete midi-tower PC with a monitor, a 100l plastic storage box, several months of daily newspapers (in one pack) and a huge bag containing over 300 compressed plastic bottles. The trailer is extremely well designed and handles the abuse of both weight (hauled 55kg with no problems) and maximum speed (usually doing well over 40km/h downhill from the supermarket) without anything to complain about. In fact, unless climbing uphill, I tend to forget I have anything attached to the bike, as there is no noise from the standard hitch like some other reviewers reported. The cargo space is bigger than it looks like - it easily packs a stuffed shopping cart - while the pockets and (easily removable) divider make it easy to organize the content. Polyester cover keeps the stuff dry and clean regardless of the falling rain or mud from the rear wheel while adding to a cool look. As with the other users, I experience drivers giving me much more respect and space on the road and a very tall flagpole ensures high visibility. All in all, this has been probably the best purchase I've made last year and one to enjoy for many years to come.
Another thing I need to point out is the excellent service from BikeTrailerShop.com. Aside of price and availability beating the hell out of european dealers that I considered at first, Josh's quick and elaborate responses to all my questions over the course of 3 months during which we exchanged the emails, provided me with the best experience I've ever had shopping online. Josh is the biker you want to hear the advices from and when I get to buy a kid-trailer in a year or two, this website will be the first one I'll check. |
Gordon Koetje - 04/03/2008 This trailer has been great! Josh was a big help answering my questions and concerns. I try and live a car free lifestyle and this trailer goes a long way in making that happen. One of the biggest concerns I had was how well it would track behind me and how much it would effect handling.
What I found in regards to my concerns.... Thing is a pleasure to use. It connects very easy and tracks straight and true behind my bike. I've been able to use it for grocery hauling. That duty is now a pleasure... Love the divider inside for breaking up the loading. The pockets are a great touch also.
It goes together very with ease. Very nice quality construction and well thought out design. Good brakes are the ticket. I run disc on my commuter up front and that seems to be the ticket for me. I often times will be pulling the trailer with 50 plus pound loads.
Looking forward to using it on a bicycle tour this summer.
After a month of use..... I love this thing!

William Cawthra - 02/28/2008 I just received my Burly Nomad trailer this morning, and I have only gone on one ride with it, so I will just give my first impressions.......The Nomad was easy to assemble, no problems or surprises. I loaded it up with about 60-70 pounds of Photo gear, and hit the road. It worked great! It tracked true & easy, I had a ball. The Nomad is just what I was looking for in a trailer, and it was a pleasure dealing with the folks at BikeTrailerShop.com |
